Facebook is an incredibly popular social networking site. It's a way for friends and contacts to get in touch with each other, as well as to plan events, share photos, and join groups. Anyone older than 13 can create a Facebook account.
Facebook excels at these things:
- Sharing- It's very easy to share things like links, movies and images like with other friends who use Facebook.
- Trust- Facebook is set up so that it is beneficial to provide accurate details about your identity. This makes sharing things like links with your friends much more effective. If people know who you are, then they're more likely to trust your recommendations.
- Popularity- Facebook currently has over 58 million users, and it’s growing by nearly 200,000 members a day. They've become the largest photo site in the U.S, with over 60 Million photos uploaded weekly.
What's a Facebook Application?
A Facebook application is a way for any outside developer to create an application that will benefit a Facebook user. These applications (or "apps") can range from the incredibly silly (Pirates vs. Ninjas) to useful tools (Todo list)
These apps are installed by the Facebook user, and they can be displayed on their profile, letting all of their other friends see and interact with their application.
